Pretzel City PA is a purpose driven company working to create a greater sense of community with products, experiences and events that celebrate our rich heritage. We focus on growing our community through our rich pretzel history.

Pretzel City PA is not one person or group, but rather a collection of interested parties that are joined by this common theme. Pretzel City is part of our Americana. When you drive across America, you must stop in Reading PA for a pretzel (maybe a beer) and visit this slice of America. A little salty, a little sweet and a little twisted, we are Pretzel City!

Reading PA

Is a city in, and the county seat of Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 1748, Reading is located in the southeastern part of the state and is the principal city of the Greater Reading Area.

Reading lent its name to the now-defunct Reading Railroad, one of the four railroad properties in the classic United States version of the Monopoly board game.

Reading is known as "Pretzel City", because of numerous local pretzel bakeries. Currently, Unique Pretzel, Tom Sturgis, Fallers, Savor Street, Dieffenbach, and  Pretzel Revolution bakeries call the Reading area home.

In 1859 just before the Civil War, a pretzel baker named Benjamin Lichtenthaler moved with his family from the Moravian Village, Lititz, to Reading, then a city of some 20,000 inhabitants.

Julius Sturgis, who is generally credited as being first in America to establish pretzel baking as an industry, back in 1861 also moved from Lititz to Reading. The Sturgis family has remained in the business ever since.
